Kratom is the name given to the leaves of Mitragyna Speciosa trees which are native to Southeast Asia (especially Thailand, Malaysia and Myanmar). The kratom-tree is a tropical and evergreen tree of the coffee family.
Kratom is able to have an effect on the body because of alkaloids present in kratom leaves. The active alkaloids are believed to interact with mu-opioid receptors in the brain, receptors that are responsible for sensing pain. Opiates, a class of drugs that includes pain relievers like Oxycontin, also interact with mu-opioid receptors, but much more intensely. Because kratom has a more mild interaction with the same receptors, it is able to have a similar- but much less powerful- effect to an opiate.
To be clear, kratom is not an opiate nor does it contain opiates. It is merely known for providing similar effects. There haven’t been very many studies on kratom and how it works and until further research is completed, there is a distinct lack of information on the exact mechanics by which kratom works.
Different strains of the kratom plant can be found in various regions of Southeast Asia. To date there is no research that provides us with reliable information about how these strains compare to one another. Sulawesi Kratom does not make any claims about the strains nor does it make any recommendations.

While the product you’ll receive is not the exact same product in the picture, all of our inventory is examined and inspected on arrival or before shipment. If our photos differ in color or consistency, we do our best to immediately update them to reflect the product we actually sell. Please note that there can be inconsistencies in product color depending on the grade of mesh used when grinding our coarse material into powder. Rest assured we are doing our best to deliver consistent and quality product on each and every order.
If you indicate so in the comment field of your order, we’ll certainly do what we can. Otherwise, all products shipped from Sulawesi Kratom are labeled (and billed) as such, packaged in materials provided by the courier and with a return address reflecting our company name.
